About

AllPrayerTime.uk publishes calculated prayer times for the United Kingdom. The times are produced by our own calculation engine, from the position of the sun for a particular place on a particular date. We do not copy a timetable from another website and pass it off as ours.

The aim of the site is narrow and, we hope, useful: prayer times you can check. The method behind every time is written down in public, the same method is applied to every date, and where a choice was ours to make rather than a settled matter, we say so instead of hiding it.

What this site provides

• Calculated prayer times for UK locations — Fajr, sunrise, Dhuhr, both Asr times, Maghrib and Isha, for a specific place and date.
• A published calculation method. The angles, the rules and the two small margins we apply are all set out on the methodology page.
• A stated position on the parts that are not settled. Where UK practice differs, the site shows the difference rather than choosing quietly on your behalf.
• A way to tell us something looks wrong. How a report is handled is described on the corrections page.

How the times are produced

Each time is calculated from the sun's position for the location and date in question, and held to the exact second. It is rounded to the minute once, at the point it is displayed. Nothing is estimated from a neighbouring town, and nothing is averaged across the country.

Our results are also compared against independent outside sources — including the astronomical figures published by the US Naval Observatory — so that a mistake in our own engine would show up rather than sit unnoticed. Both Asr times, always

Asr is defined by shadow length, and two conventions are in wide use: Standard (Mithl 1) and Hanafi (Mithl 2). In the UK they differ by roughly an hour.

We calculate, store and display both. Neither is labelled the correct one, and neither is hidden behind a setting you have to go looking for. UK mosque practice is genuinely mixed, and quietly choosing one for you would misrepresent that.

What we do not claim

There is no single timetable that every mosque in the country agrees on, and this site does not pretend otherwise. Different calculation methods produce different times, and two timetables can differ without either containing an error.

• We do not describe our times as official, approved, or endorsed by any mosque or organisation.
• We do not claim that our method is the only valid one, or that it produces better times than any other.
• We do not issue religious rulings. The choices recorded on this site are product and engineering decisions about how a time is calculated and presented.

For congregational prayer, follow your local mosque. Its jama'ah times are set locally and will not always match a calculated time.

Where the site has got to

The site is being built in stages and is at an early one. Rather than filling it with pages that have nothing real behind them, we publish a section only once the data supporting it exists and has been checked.

Per-city prayer-time pages, monthly timetables, Jumu'ah and mosque information, Ramadan timetables and the Qibla and calendar tools are all planned. None of them is linked from the site until it is genuinely ready, which is why the navigation is short.
