Ramadan 2027 in the UK
Suhoor and Iftar times for every UK city we publish, and what to expect this year.
When is Ramadan 2027?
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027, with the first Taraweeh on the evening of Sunday 7 February. Some UK mosques follow a local moon sighting and may begin a day later, on Tuesday 9 February. Eid al-Fitr is expected on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March 2027.
These dates depend on the moon, and this site does not decide them. Follow your local mosque's announcement.
Suhoor and Iftar by city
First and 30th day (counted from the expected start). Choose a city for every day of Ramadan.
London and Ilford follow the London Unified Prayer Timetable; every other city is our own calculation for its coordinates.
Ramadan 2027 across the UK
- On the first day the fast lasts between 11h 17m (Edinburgh) and 11h 31m (Bristol) across the cities below; by the 30th day it is between 13h 09m (Ilford) and 13h 16m (Luton). Where you live in the UK changes the length of the fast very little this year, because Ramadan falls close to the spring equinox.
- Every fast grows by between 1h 45m and 1h 54m from the first day to the 30th, as sunrise moves earlier and sunset later.
- The clock time of Iftar depends mostly on how far east or west you are: on the first day it is 17:04 in Edinburgh but 17:15 in Bristol.
- The clocks do not change during Ramadan 2027: British Summer Time begins on Sunday 28 March, after Eid.
How the times work
When does Suhoor end?
At Fajr. We publish no separate Imsak time: our calculated Fajr already uses the 18° twilight angle, which some UK scholars recommend as the precaution for ending Suhoor. London and Ilford use the London Unified Prayer Timetable's Fajr, which is based on UK observations.
When is Iftar?
At Maghrib. Our Maghrib is published 3 minutes after the calculated sunset, a small margin for refraction and elevation; the London Unified Prayer Timetable carries its own 3-minute margin.
Why might my mosque show a different time?
Mosques use different twilight angles and margins, and some start Ramadan on a different day. Neither is an error. For congregational prayer and the start of Ramadan, follow your local mosque.
