London Prayer Times

London's prayer times on this page come from two sources, with a fixed switch date. Until 31 December 2026 they are calculated by our own engine for central London — 51.5085° N, 0.1257° W. From 1 January 2027 they are the London Unified Prayer Timetable: one timetable for everywhere inside the M25, set up in 2011 by several London mosques and Islamic centres, shown here exactly as published and used with permission. Both follow the Europe/London clock through GMT and British Summer Time.

What changes on 1 January 2027

Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib hardly move — both sources start from the same astronomy and add similar small margins, so they stay within a few minutes of each other. Fajr and Isha move more, because the unified timetable takes them from UK observations of twilight rather than from a fixed angle:

• In January, February and October the unified Fajr is 10 to 23 minutes later than our calculated Fajr, and from September to April the unified Isha is 5 to 25 minutes earlier.
• Around midsummer the unified Fajr is up to an hour earlier — 02:40 on 21 June 2027 rather than 03:40 — and Isha is 12 to 21 minutes later, 22:42 rather than 22:25.
• In Ramadan 2027, expected to begin around 8 February, the unified Fajr — the end of suhoor — falls 7 to 13 minutes later than our calculated Fajr would have, and Isha 13 to 20 minutes earlier.

Both Asr times, every day

London mosques do not all follow the same Asr convention, and the unified timetable publishes both, so both are shown: Standard (Mithl 1) and Hanafi (Mithl 2). At this latitude they are about half an hour apart in midwinter and about an hour and a quarter apart in late June. Neither is presented as the correct one.

Long summer twilight

Until the end of 2026 the calculated times handle London's long twilight with our one-seventh-of-the-night rule, and the page says so on each date it applies. The unified timetable settles summer Fajr and Isha from its own observations, so from 2027 no such adjustment notice appears — the published minute is the timetable's own.

One timetable for the whole M25

Because the unified timetable is meant to serve everywhere inside the M25, from 1 January 2027 the Ilford page shows exactly the same times as this one. The timetable's own margins are there to cover the east–west spread of Greater London.
